We are a family owned, full service funeral home who's been in the funeral profession for three generations. Over the years, we have served families of all faiths, beliefs and nationalities, of which many have placed their trust and confidence in us generation after generation.

Carmine J. Parise (Funeral Director) 1918 – 1980
The son and grandson of southern Italian immigrants, he graduated from McAllister School of Embalming in New York City on December 22, 1938. Upon completing his apprenticeship he established his business in his hometown in 1941 at the age of 23. Throughout his career, he was well respected and renowned in the community and by his colleagues for his skills in embalming, restorative art and cosmetology. In the era in which he established his business many people of the same nationality only patronized their own. Carmine was one of the few funeral directors of his time to serve other nationalities and religions. He was married to the late Angela (Talarico) Parise who passed away in 1972. They had one son, Louis C. Parise. Carmine passed away in 1980 at the age of 62.

Louis C. Parise (Funeral Director)
Louis (Chippy) became the sole owner of the business in 1980 after the death of his father. He graduated from Simmons School of Mortuary Science, Syracuse, New York on March 18, 1966. He is licensed in the states of Pennsylvania and New York. Louis is a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Carbondale. He serves on the board of the Willow View Cemetery Association in Clifford. He is a member of the Carbondale Chapter of UNICO and served as its president from 1975-1976. He has three sons Jason, Jeffry and Jonathan and two grandchildren Isabella and Nicolas.

Jason C. Parise (Funeral Director)
Jason, the third generation of Parise's to become a funeral director, received his license in 1997. He is a graduate of Wilkes University, Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania and Simmons Institute of Funeral Service, Syracuse, New York. He is a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church where he served as an usher for many years. He is active with several of the church's yearly social functions and is a member of the Carbondale Chapter of UNICO. He holds a Pennsylvania insurance license which is used for the firm's pre-planning/pre-funding program. He and his wife Debbie and their two children Isabella Ann and Nicolas Christopher reside in Jessup

Jeffry S. Parise (Funeral Director)

Jeffry received his license in 2002. He is a Magna Cum Laude graduate of Wilkes University, Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania and Simmons Institute of Funeral Service, Syracuse, New York. He is a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Carbondale and the Carbondale Chapter of UNICO. He and his wife, Christie reside above the funeral home in Clifford.

Jonathan P. Parise (Funeral Assistant)
Jonathan graduated in 2005 from Simmons Institute of Funeral Service, Syracuse, New York, where he received the Mu Sigma Alpha Award in recognition of outstanding academic proficiency. He also attended Penn State University's Worthington Scranton Campus. He currently resides and works in New Jersey.

Glynn C. Shifler (Funeral Director) 1923 – 2008
Glynn was a third generation funeral director and the former owner of the Glynn C. Shifler Funeral Home, Clifford, Pennsylvania. He retired in 1986, after selling his funeral home to the Parise family. He attended and graduated from Davidson College in North Carolina and American Academy School of Embalming in New York City. He was a World War II Air Force veteran having served as a pilot. He was a 50-year member of the Masons and a member of the Elk Mountain VFW Post 8488. He was also a former member of the Clifford United Methodist Church and the Tri County Funeral Directors Association, where he has served as President in 1971. He had remained the supervisor of the funeral home until February of 2008. He was married to the late Lois (Ogborne) Shifler who died in 1986. They had one son, Bruce R. Shifler who died in 2002. Glynn passed away in 2008 at the age of 85.
