Thomas A. Medric, 92, of Nicholson, PA, died Saturday, February 24, 2018 at the Gino Merli Veterans Center, Scranton, PA. His wife the former Ann Kavka, died on September 1, 2001.
Born in Jersey City, NJ, he was the son of the late Olga Sawka Medric Kubish and the late Thomas Medric.
Tom was an Army Air Force veteran of World War II having served in the Pacific Theatre. Following the war, he had been employed as a tool and die maker and made and sold sporting goods supplies in New Jersey. In 1969, he and his family moved to Nicholson, where he became the owner of Medric Supply Company, a well known hardware and LP gas supply store. Tom served the borough of Nicholson as their water commissioner for 30 years and was also a longtime constable for Lathrop Township. He was a former member of the Nicholson Rotary, a member of the Elk Mountain VFW Post 8488, Lenox, and St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Nicholson.
Having grown up in New Jersey, Tom truly appreciated the splendor of country life. He enjoyed his trips to the casino and loved spending Monday nights playing pool and Wednesday nights playing poker with his friends. Tom was a brilliant chess player and taught many of his family members the game. He will be deeply missed by his family whom his love showed no bounds.
He is survived by two sons: Thomas Medric of Clifford, PA and Kenneth Medric of Nicholson, PA; two daughters: Patricia Cober and husband Ron of Maxton, NC and Linda Dippel and husband Al of Rock Hill, SC; 9 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews and lots of friends.
The funeral was held Monday, March 12, 2018 at 12:30 p.m. from Shifler-Parise Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 18 Airport Road, Clifford, PA, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 1:00 p.m. at St. Patrick's Church, 205 Main Street, Nicholson, PA. Interment, St. Patrick's Cemetery, Nicholson, PA.
Friends called Thursday, March 1, 2018 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m.
