Anthony John Aileo, Sr., 71, a lifetime resident of Carbondale, PA, died Sunday, April 8, 2018 at home. His wife of 49 years is the late Sharon Rose Karwan, who died December 10, 2017.
Born March 6, 1947 in Carbondale, PA, he is the son of Betty Hobday Anschuetz of Carbondale and the late John J. Aileo. He was the stepson of the late August Anschuetz.
Anthony was a 1965 graduate of Benjamin Franklin High School, Carbondale and worked 15 years at Grumman Olson, Mayfield, PA, and retired after 15 years from St. Joseph's Center, Carbondale. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Carbondale and enjoyed gardening and target shooting. He was also a proud member of the NRA, was an animal lover and most of all enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by two sons: Anthony "Cheezie" Aileo and wife Maribeth of Jessup, PA and Jay Aileo and wife Cyndi Klikus of Simpson, PA; two grandsons: Anthony Aileo, III. and Gary Nestor, both of Jessup, PA; two granddaughters: Kim Cost and Summer Klikus, both of Carbondale, PA; three sisters: Betty Aileo and husband Patrick Kennedy of Clarks Green, PA, Cindy Carney and husband Joseph of Phoenixville, PA and Mary Aileo of Carbondale, PA; one niece: Rachael Carney; two nephews: David Aileo and Eric Williamson; numerous cousins.
He was also preceded in death by one sister: Carrie Aileo.
The funeral was held Wednesday, April 11, 2018 at 7:00 p.m. from the Carmine J. & Louis C. Parise Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 89 Farview Street, Carbondale, officiated by Pastor Donald Perry of the First United Methodist Church of Carbondale. Interment, Willow View Cemetery, Clifford, PA.
Friends called Wednesday, April 11, 2018 from 4-7 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations were sent in Anthony's name to the Griffin Pond Animal Shelter, 967 Griffin Pond Road, South Abington Township, PA 18411.
