Obituary of William Machell


William R. Machell, 75, of Clifford, PA, died Wednesday, May 17, 2017 at home after a brief illness.

Born September 25, 1941 in Carbondale, PA, he was the son of the late Albert "Pat" and Rachel Bowen Machell.

Bill was a graduate of Mountain View High School and served in the Air Force from 1959 to 1963. He had been a talented self employed carpenter his entire working career. Bill was a lifelong member of the Clifford Baptist Church, a longtime member of the Clifford Township Volunteer Fire Company and a board member of the Willow View Cemetery Association in Clifford.

He was a devoted family man who was always an active part of his daughter's childhood and life even though she lived in Virginia since the age of 8. Bill was a role model to his two grandsons and always looked forward to his monthly visits with them. His numerous nieces and nephews could always count upon their Uncle Bill for anything they needed.

He is survived by one daughter: Jennifer Sims and husband Patrick of Alexandria, VA; two grandsons: Liam and Conor Sims; four sisters: Elizabeth Grant of Harford, PA, Alberta Miller of Wyalusing, PA, Margaret Farrell of Mount Washington, KY and Jan Price of Clifford, PA; numerous nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by a brother: Joseph Machell and two infant brothers; two sisters: Frances Johnson and Rachel Kochmer.

The funeral was held Monday, May 22, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. from the Clifford Baptist Church, 519 Church Street, Clifford, officiated by Pastor Bonnie Resseguie. Interment with military honors, Willow View Cemetery, Clifford.

Pallbearers: Albert Machell, Mark Machell, Patrick Sims, Robert Kochmer, Paul Kochmer and David Miller.

Friends called Sunday, May 21, 2017 from 4-7 p.m. at Shifler-Parise Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 18 Airport Road, Clifford.
