Michael W. Halstead, 38, of Scranton, PA, died Friday, January 4, 2019.
Born January 4, 1981 in Scranton, PA, he was the son of Wayne Halstead of Scranton, PA and Pauline Entrot Gerchman and husband, Mitchell Gerchman of Spring Hill, FL.
He was a graduate of Johnson College and had been employed as a mechanic at Johnnie's Gas Station in Dickson City, PA.
Mike enjoyed riding and fixing anything that had a motor attached to it. He took great pleasure in teaching his children how ride and repair motorcycles, quads and dirt bikes. He had a vast knowledge of auto mechanics and enjoyed working on cars. Mike was very generous and always put the need of others before his own, but most of all he loved his children to no end.
He is survived by four children: Alyenah, Paul, Eathin and Isaiah; his former wife: Cynthia Halstead; five brothers: Brian Diaz, Ryan Gerchman, Ceejay Halstead, Jamie Halstead and Wayne Halstead ; one sister: Arlene Halstead; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was also preceded in death by his grandparents: Paul and Charlotte Halstead and Edwin and Eileen Entrot.
A celebration of his life was held Saturday, January 12, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. from the Peckville Assembly of God Church, 3364 Scranton Carbondale Highway, Blakely, PA, by Rev. Terry Drost, pastor.
Arrangements were entrusted to Carmine J. & Louis C. Parise Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., Carbondale, PA.
