Violet A. Barnes, 94, of Carbondale, PA, died Wednesday afternoon, January 30, 2019 at the Carbondale Nursing Center, Carbondale. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Barnes on August 18, 1977.
Born September 18, 1924 in Vandling, PA, she was the daughter of the late Robert Frank Morgan and Annie May Davies Morgan.
She was a graduate of Benjamin Franklin High School, Carbondale, and was a member of the Trinity Episcopal Church, Carbondale, and the Order of the Eastern Star. Prior to her retirement, she had been employed for many years as a cashier at the A&P Grocery Store in Carbondale, and ShopRite in Eynon.
Her life revolved around her family and she was a proud Nana who enjoyed playing a special role in helping to raise her grandchildren.
She is survived by one daughter: Cathy Sue Loyack and husband, Gary of Greenfield Township, PA; one son: David Barnes and wife, Mary Ann of Carbondale, PA; four grandchildren: Aaron and Andrew Loyack, Peter Barnes and Robert Travers and wife, Rachel; a great grandson: Rhys Travers; one brother: Robert Morgan of Carbondale, PA; first cousins: Ann Marie Pettinato, Daniel Price and wife, Carolyn and Martin Price and wife, Florence as well as, other cousins.
She was also preceded in death by an infant son: Robert Morgan Barnes; and a grandson: Devin Barnes.
The funeral was held Wednesday, February 6, 2019 at 6:00 p.m. from the Carmine J. & Louis C. Parise Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 89 Farview Street, Carbondale, PA, officiated Rev. Bill McGinty of the Trinity Episcopal Church, Carbondale. Interment, Union Dale Cemetery, Union Dale, PA.
Friends called Wednesday, February 6, 2019 from 4-6 p.m.
