Lena M. Kowalchick

Lena Mary (Pagnoni) Kowalchick, 95, of Wolcott, CT, died Saturday, October 3, 2020. She was the wife of the late Victor Kowalchick.

Born June 17, 1925 in Archbald, PA, she was the daughter of the late Ettore and Maria D'Angeli Pagnoni.

She attended St. Michael's Slovak School, Jessup, PA, St. Thomas Aquinas School, Archbald, PA, and was a 1943 graduate of Archbald High School, Archbald, PA.

She worked for forty-two years as a secretary for Scovill, Inc., Waterbury, CT. Prior to her retirement and afterwards, she truly enjoyed cooking, baking, taking trips to many countries in Europe especially visiting family members in northern Italy. Her homemade cakes, cookies at Christmas time and all types of Italian food was just out of this world. Her Sunday meals having all family members over at her house was just a special delight for everyone. Her amazing stories of when she was a young girl working jobs while in high school to support her family during the Great Depression and then moving to Connecticut by herself to make artillery shells for the U.S. Army during World War II made us feel how lucky we all were to have such a beloved and faithful aunt like her. She became a second mother to so many of us and will be in our hearts forever.

She is survived by a nephew: Phillip Pagnoni and his wife, Darcey; great nephew and niece: Jason and Jessica Pagnoni; and great-great nephew and niece: Kingston and Salem Huff.

She was also preceded in death by her four brothers: Leo, Carlo, Daniel and Ettore Jr. Pagnoni.

A Mass of Christian burial was held Wednesday, October 7, 2020 at St. Basil the Great Parish, Wolcott, CT, with entombment in the family mausoleum at St. Francis of Assisi Cemetery, Eynon, PA.

Out of town and local funeral arrangements were under the care of Carmine J. and Louis C. Parise Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., Carbondale, PA.
