Gayle A. Davis, 85, of Clifford Township, PA, died Monday morning, March 29, 2021 at Geisinger Community Medical Center, Scranton, PA. She was the wife of the late Russell C. Davis, who died on August 2, 2013.
Born September 22, 1935 in Chenango Forks, NY, she was the daughter of the late Wade and Anita Finch Whitbeck.
Gayle had worked for Industrial Electro Plating Company, Binghamton, NY, Sandvik Steel, Waverly, PA, Gress Poultry, Scranton, PA, and retired from the Scranton Lace Company, Scranton, PA. She attended the Peckville Assembly of God Church and enjoyed crocheting, knitting and bowling in her earlier years. Her greatest joy in life was taking care of her family and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is survived by two sons: Charles Davis and wife, Nancy and Rodney Davis; six daughters: Joyce Mason and husband, James, Roxane Casey and husband, Ralph, Danita Eggleton, Linda Davis, Dolores Deacon and husband, William and Pauline Davis; 20 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; two brothers: John and Donald Whitbeck; three sisters: Ruth Cooper, Joan Staats and Beverly Klinko; numerous nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by a daughter: Dorothy Davis: a brother: Charles Whitbeck; two sisters: Margaret Ahlers and Barbara Sandford.
The funeral was held Thursday, April 1, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. from the Peckville Assembly of God Church, 3364 Scranton Carbondale Highway, Blakely, PA, with Rev. Terry Drost, pastor, officiating. Interment, Welsh Hill Cemetery, Union Dale, PA.
Pallbearers: Rodney Davis, Charles Davis, Sr., Charles Davis, Jr., Joseph Casey, Sean Casey and James Mason, Jr.
A viewing was held Thursday, April 1, 2021 from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions were sent in Gayle's name to the Peckville Assembly of God Church or the Griffin Pond Animal Shelter.
Arrangements were entrusted to the Shifler-Parise Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Clifford, PA.
