Charlotte E. Sidorski

Charlotte E. Sidorski, 100, a resident of the Meadow View Healthcare Center, Montrose, PA, died Wednesday, May 19, 2021 at Endless Mountains Health Systems, Montrose, PA. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Sidorski in 2013.

Born April 6, 1921 in Alford, PA, she was the daughter of the late Stinson and Edna Ely Young.

Charlotte spent most of her life in Brooklyn but also lived in Alford, Kingsley, Jackson and now Montrose, where she was a resident of Meadow View for nearly 10 years. She was a 1938 graduate of Brooklyn High School, married Wilber W. Fitch in 1941 and later divorced in 1974. While married to Wilber they owned and operated Fitch's Garage in Brooklyn, PA, and during the 1940's she did extensive work in Binghamton, NY, with her mother in a wallpapering business. She later worked as an assembler for the Bendix Corporation in South Montrose, PA, for 33 years and retired in 1986.

Charlotte was active in the Brooklyn chapter of Rebekah's and was a member of the Brooklyn and later Gibson Granges. She was well known in the Rebekah organization in the NEPA area for her voice as she did a poetry reading that was part of their membership initiation. She was also active in a number of organizations and clubs in the village of Brooklyn.

Charlotte enjoyed travel and camping. She and her family did extensive camping in Vermont and New York state. In later years, she and her late husband, Edward enjoyed traveling across the country with their small travel trailer. In the early 1990's, Charlotte took her first plane ride on a transatlantic trip to England for a small family reunion of Ely's in the town of Ely, England. She always enjoyed a Sunday drive around the dirt roads of Susquehanna County.

Charlotte's hobbies included baking, sewing, crocheting and gardening. She also caned chairs and quilted. Her grandchildren stated her hobbies were: Baking the best chocolate chip cookies, strawberry rhubarb pie, lasagna, cinnamon rolls and there were always cookies in the cookie jar. She also had a large collection of small glass and ceramic shoes and collected them most of her life.

The family would like to thank all current and former staff at Meadow View Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Montrose for their dedication and care of Mom over the last decade of her life.

She is survived by two children: Frank (Penny) Fitch of Alford, PA, and Susan (Tim) Fitch-Proctor of Union Dale, PA; two step-children: Catherine (Don) Benedict of Jackson, PA, and Paul Sidorski of Binghamton, NY; seven grandchildren: Heather (Bimmer) Fitch Gulley of Susquehanna, PA, Sarah (Bill) Fitch Jackson of Binghamton, NY, Ben (Katie Edwards) Fitch of Susquehanna, PA, Zeb (Heather) Fitch of Susquehanna, PA, Jesse (Maggie) Benedict of Jackson, PA, Bobbi (Anthony) Fedele of Dalton, PA, Stacey (Matt) Founfelker of Petaluma, CA; 19 great-grandchildren: Mindy, Nichole, Hayden, Thomas, Donavon, Leigha, Salvatore, Dane, Benny, Drayk, Xavier, Skye, Maria, A.J., Lila, Easton, Kinley, Alina and Reed; several nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by a brother: Tracy R. Young; and a sister: Beatrice Anderson.

Private funeral services were held at the convenience of the family at the West Side Cemetery, Brooklyn, PA.

Arrangements were entrusted to Shifler-Parise Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Clifford, PA.
