The world became much less bright on June 8, 2021 when Karen Sue Wagner Lynady, formerly of Carbondale, PA, passed unexpectedly in Bangor, ME.
Karen, "Susie," was born in Carbondale, to Joseph and Janet Wagner, both of Carbondale. Karen graduated in 1979 from Carbondale Area Jr/Sr Highschool. She attended Empire Beauty School in Binghamton, NY, graduating in 1981. After graduation she ran her own salon. In the years that followed, Karen was a true jack of all trades. Working in offices, daycare centers, for wildlife conservation groups, and making her own candles for her company, Heart N' Soul Candles, Karen loved learning and was never still for long.
Karen is survived by Gary Pelton her life partner; her children: John Joseph Lynady of Orono, ME, Allyson Olivia Lynady of Carbondale, PA, Abigayle Victoria Lynady of Dixmont, ME, Jason Lynady of Forest City, PA, Chad Willis Lynady and wife, Sara of Carbondale, PA; three grandchildren: Lily, Sadie and Ryder Lynady all of Carbondale, PA; three sisters, a twin, Kathy Brown and boyfriend, Ralph Perry, of Carbondale, PA, Jennifer Smith and husband, Kyle, of Scot Run, PA, Karen Mazur and husband, John, of Carbondale, PA; two brothers, Patrick Battle and wife, Michele of Scott Township, PA, and William Battle and wife, Dawn, of San Diego, CA.
Karen loved her nieces and nephews and was a constant source of laughs and advice as an aunt and godmother. Karen was an animal lover, forever taking in strays and welcoming them into her home and her green thumb was legendary.
Karen was preceded in death by her lifelong best friend John "Jack" Lynady, her brother, Joseph Wagner Jr., her father, Joseph Wagner Sr., and "Uncle" Richard Burko.
Karen was a true testament to good still existing within the human soul, and that kindness and time are the two most important things you can ever give someone. Everyone knew the love Karen has for her child, but that didn't compare to the love she has for her grandchildren. She was a light for her family and friends, and her loss will be felt greatly. She was a rock for many and a friend to all.
