Joseph L. Hajos

Joseph L. Hajos, 73, of Scott Township, PA, died Christmas Eve. December 24, 2021 at home surrounded by his family after an illness. He is survived by his wife, the former Donna M. Alampi. They were married on November 15, 1970.

Born August 20, 1948 in Benton Township, PA, he was the son of the late Louis and Esther Brelish Hajos. Joe was a graduate of Lackawanna Trail High School and had been employed as a certified mechanic having worked at Sugarman's in Eynon for over 20 years and later retiring from Marywood University, Scranton, PA.

Joe was raised on the family dairy farm in Benton Township where he gained a love of the outdoors and learned the value of hard work. He was an extraordinarily humble man with a brilliant mind, who's generosity knew no bounds and devotion to his family was unconditional, as it was endless. His greatest joy was spending time with his family in the outdoors hunting, fishing and trapping. Joe was never one to sit around, especially in retirement where he could be found in his garage working on small engines, tending to the family farm, gardening and bee keeping. If he had one favorite indoor activity it was watching reruns of Seinfeld, where he could recite the story lines by heart.

He is survived by three daughters: Kimberly Pisanti and fiancé, Anthony Christian of Benton Township, PA, Jolynn O'Malley of Fell Township, PA and Tina Duffy and companion, Mark Shiffer of Mayfield, PA; three grandchildren: Daniella Pisanti, Nicholas Pisanti and Kayla Duffy; one brother: Albert Hajos of Benton Township, PA; two sisters: MaryAnn Hopfer of Kingsley, PA and Cathy Stone of Maryland; and several nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by a sister: Theresa Duda.
