Michael J. Caffrey, Sr.

Michael Joseph Caffrey, Sr. of Carbondale, PA, was called home to be with Jesus on December 26, 2021. He passed away surrounded by his loving family at his bedside who were both local and afar.

Born December 19, 1957 in Carbondale, PA, he was the son of the late Clayton and Rose Marie Grizzanti Caffrey.

Michael holds a record for the Carbondale Little League which is 18 home runs, 3 grand slams, 7 no-hitters, 3 perfect games, and pitching a speed of 85 mph in a single season. Michael worked for 20 years as a welder for Burnett Casket Company, Carbondale, Casket Shells, Inc., Eynon and Monarch Pallet Company, Carbondale.

He is a member of St. Rose of Lima Church, Carbondale, and his favorite pastimes were shooting pellet guns, picking blueberries, bowling, archery, rides in the country, the great outdoors, classic 80's music, antique store shopping, and having long talks about Jesus. He is survived by his three children, Melissa (Hector), Stacy (Lyndon), and Michael (Jennifer); five grandchildren, and one great-grandchild; along with his three surviving siblings, Roseanne, James (Karen), and Joanie (Andrew); and three nieces, two nephews and several great grandnieces and grandnephews.

He was also preceded in death by a sister: Sharon; and a nephew.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Thursday, January 6, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. from St. Rose of Lima Church, 6 N. Church Street, Carbondale, PA, celebrated by Rev. Jeffrey Walsh, pastor.
