Obituary of Marilyn Lockwood

Marilyn Price Lockwood, Registered Nurse, 82, of Lenox, PA died peacefully at home on Friday, September 14, 2018. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kieff R. Lockwood, on January 28, 2005.

Born November 19, 1935 in Carbondale, PA, she was the daughter of the late Doreen (Dunnier) Price and the late Ordie Edward Price, Sr., of South Gibson, PA. Marilyn started her education in a one room school house in West Clifford. She graduated from Harford High School in 1953 and continued her education at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania where she graduated in 1956 with a Diploma in Nursing. After she passed her nursing boards, Marilyn was employed with the Visiting Nurse Association of Susquehanna County, until she married the love of her life on July 4, 1959. After her marriage, Marilyn became a homemaker, private duty nurse and a mother. She was a long time member of the South Gibson United Methodist Church, its United Methodist Women, and served as Sunday School Superintendent and Organist.

Marilyn liked to tell stories to her family. After the hurricane of 1942, Marilyn traveled with her parents to Dunklee Pond, NH were they salvaged wood. During WWII, she was in Philadelphia, and Bremerton, WA, with her dog Dianne, as her parents contributed to the war effort by welding on ships. As a child she enjoyed piano and tap lessons. She always stressed to her children that their education was the most important achievement. Marilyn loved to cook, bake and preserve foods. She had an extensive cookbook and kitchen gadget collection. She shared her cooking knowledge with her extended family and friends who cherish her recipes to this day. She liked to write poems, articles and skits, especially for bible school.

Surviving are her son: Eric Price Lockwood of New Smyrna Beach, FL; her daughter: Keyna Dawn Lockwood Radtke, and son in law, E. Joseph Radtke, Jr., two grandchildren: Garrett Joseph Radtke, and fiancée llang Taimanao, and Kyle Morgan Radtke, all of Middletown, MD; a sister: Valerie Price Cole, and brother-in-law, Jim Cole, West Clifford, PA, a brother: Ordie E. Price, Jr. and sister-in-law, Aline Price, South Gibson, PA; many nieces and nephews and longtime friends who will miss her greatly.

She was also preceded in death by her son: Craig K. Lockwood: sisters: Col. Alice Price Brown, RN, Irene Kennedy and Thelma Adams; brothers: Gaylord and Reese Price.

Family and friends may call Saturday, September 29, 2018 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the South Gibson United Methodist Church, 2839 State Route 2067, South Gibson, PA, a funeral service will be conducted at 12:00 p.m. and committal services to follow at the Willow View Cemetery, Clifford, PA, a reception will be held at the Crystal Lake Hotel.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Shifler-Parise Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Clifford, PA.
