Obituary of John Lynady

John Franklin "Jack" Lynady, formerly of Richmondale, PA, passed away unexpectedly on November 11, 2018, one day before his 69th birthday, at Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor, Maine, while surrounded by his loved ones.

Jack was born in Indiana, Pennsylvania to the late John Joseph and Georgia Lucille Sawyer Lynady. He was educated in the Indiana school system until his enlistment into the United States Marine Corps as a combat engineer. Jack was a highly decorated Marine receiving awards such as the Combat Action Ribbon, the Navy Marine Corps Achievement Medal, with a V for Valor, Navy Commendation Medal and the Meritorious Unit Citation along with his Vietnam Campaign Service Medal. He was one of the few brave Marines who fought and won at the battle of Khe Sanh. Jack wore his pride for all to see, whether it was on his ball caps or his tee shirts you could bet there was an eagle, globe and anchor present. Sometime after his honorable discharge from the Marine Corps, he enlisted in the National Guard and held the rank of Sergeant. Jack worked for UGI as a gas serviceman out of the Carbondale office.

Jack is survived by Karen Wagner Lynady his lifelong bf and caregiver; his children: John Joseph Lynady, Allyson Olivia Lynady, Abigayle Victoria Lynady all of Maine, and his sons: Jason Lynady of Forest City, PA and Chad Lynady and wife, Sara, and three grandchildren: Lily, Sadie and Ryder all of Carbondale, PA; two sisters Caroline Zeigler and husband William of Indiana, PA and Cheryl Perry of Carbondale, PA.

Jack loved his nieces and nephews and took pride in being their uncle and godfather. Last but certainly not least, he shared unique friendships with Janet Wagner (Louise) of Carbondale, Fred Moase of Carbondale, Don Brown of Indiana, PA and Gary Pelton of Maine. Jack leaves behind his dear bulldog Suzy, whom was his companion and constant source of enjoyment.

Jack was also preceded in death by his nephew, Jeffery Lambert whom he often spoke of and remembered dearly.

A celebration of Jack's life was held Saturday, December 1, 2018 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Carmine J. & Louis C. Parise Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 89 Farview Street, Carbondale, with a service conducted by Pastor Margaret Hartmann at 12:00 p.m.
