Obituary of Sandra R. McMyne

Sandra R. McMyne, 82, Jermyn, PA, died Saturday, April 27, 2019 at Regional Hospital, Scranton, PA, after a 9 year courageous battle with heart disease. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles E. McMyne on January 31, 1994.

Born June 12, 1936 in Carbondale, PA, she was the daughter of the late Leonard W. and Gladys Wedeman Shields.

Sandy was of the Methodist faith and attended Benjamin Franklin High School, Carbondale, PA. A hard worker her entire life, she started her work career in the Carbondale garment industry and later worked for Pizza Crust and Tioga Campers, both of Carbondale, PA, Ames Shower Curtain, Forest City, PA, and ATI/Dawn Specialty Systems, Peckville, PA. She retired at the age of 77 from Walmart, Dickson City, PA, where she worked in the lawn and garden department.

Sandy enjoyed spending time outdoors gardening or taking rides in the country. She liked the challenge of a good puzzle, but most of all, she cherished the time spent with family and friends.

She is survived by two daughters: Susan A. Meek of Jermyn, PA and Nancy J. Kresock of Clarks Summit, PA; one son: William L. Meek of Carbondale, PA; three grandchildren: Jason Kresock of Scranton, PA, Sean Meek and companion, Kimberly Hamilton of Jermyn, PA and Amy Curtin and husband, Sean of Paramus, NJ; two great grandchildren: Fallon and Brenden Curtin; one brother: Terry Shields and wife, Nancy of Carbondale, PA; several nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by two sisters: Amber Jean McMyne and Harriet Loftus; and her first husband, Lewis J. Meek.

The funeral will be Saturday, May 18, 2019 at 5:00 p.m. from the Shifler-Parise Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 18 Airport Road, Clifford, PA, officiated by Rev. Donald Perry, pastor of the First United Methodist Church of Carbondale. Interment will follow at Willow View Cemetery, Clifford, PA.

Friends may call Saturday, May 18, 2019 from 3-5 p.m. at the funeral home.
