Obituary of Wilma M. Scarpelli

Wilma M. Scarpelli, 94, formerly of Blakely, PA, died Tuesday evening, June 16, 2020 at the Forest City Nursing Home, Forest City, PA, where she has resided for the past several years. She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Rosario "Russell" Scarpelli, on November 12, 2003.

Born June 26, 1925 in Saucier, MS, she was the daughter of the late Loren Brown Blackwell and the late Annie Mae Saucier Blackwell of Mississippi.

Wilma was a member of the United States Cadet Nurse Corp during World War II and worked as a registered nurse at Mid Valley Hospital in Peckville, PA, before retiring to Sun City, Arizona.

She is survived by three daughters: Roseann Auditori of Scranton, PA, Nancy Moelk and husband, Gary of Atlanta, GA and Angela Portocarrero and husband, Manuel of Colorado Springs, CO; 11 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; one sister: Norma Jenkins of MS.; one brother: Harold Blackwell of MS.; several nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by a son: Christopher Scarpelli; a son-in-law: Joseph Auditori; two sisters: Elizabeth Termine and Delores Jeslard; two brothers: Bernard and Noel Blackwell.

Entombment will take place with her husband at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, Phoenix, AZ.

Arrangements were entrusted to Carmine J. & Louis C. Parise Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., Carbondale, PA.
