Mark Oswald

Obituary of Mark S. Oswald

Mark "Oz" Oswald, took that great motorcycle ride in the sky after a quick pit stop at Hospice of the Sacred Heart in Dunmore. He would have been 68 years young in August. Mark was greeted with a cup of tea in Heaven by his "Ma", Elizabeth, "Pa". John, and brother, Jeff. Also preceding him were numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and a niece, Laura.

Oz was a 1970 graduate of Benjamin Franklin High School, Carbondale, and for 27 years was employed at RCA in Dunmore until its closure. He happily retired from working at age 65 from Osprey Ridge. In his free time, he enjoyed putting a couple hundred miles on his bike with his friends on numerous adventures. Oz was lucky enough to turn his hobby of photography into a career and often spent weekends photographing senior pictures, engagements, weddings and other celebrations. Mark was a proud member of the Carbondale Lodge 249, of the Free and Accepted Mason's and recently became a member of the Scottish Rite.

Oz leaves behind two children: his "Toots", Ryah Gavin (Patrick) of Dickson City and his "Bud", Mitchell Oswald (Sarah) of Drexel Hill; his "Big Sis", Amber Call (Barry) of Eynon; two grandchildren: "Shortman", Jack Gavin and "Little Pixie", Isla Oswald; his former wife and lifelong friend, Jane Oswald of Peckville, as well as nephews, Jason Call (Wende) and Ryan Call (Danielle) and their families.

The family would like to thank the kind and caring staff of Geisinger-CMC ER, ICU and Hospice of the Sacred Heart for making Mark as comfortable as possible during the last part of his journey. The family encourages you to donate blood in Oz's memory as he received a blood transfusion while being cared for in the ICU.

Please think of Oz when you hear the roar of a motorcycle, enjoy a Lager or listen a Pink Floyd song. Mark was a kind, caring and gentle soul who will be deeply missed.

A celebration of Oz's life will be announced at a later date. Cremation arrangements were entrusted to Edward A. Wade Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., Carbondale, PA.
