Obituary of Carolyn M. Finneran

Carolyn Marie Finneran, 78, of Bloomfield, Iowa passed away peacefully on September 13, 2020, surrounded by her loving family following a long illness.

Carolyn was born on January 23, 1942 in Carbondale, Pennsylvania, the third child of the late Vincent and Evelyn (Petruzella) Pettinato. She graduated from St. Rose High School before attending Marywood University. Carolyn married John Finneran on August 25, 1962 at St. Thomas Moore Catholic Church in Lake Ariel, Pennsylvania and enjoyed 58-memorable and loving years together. The couple moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where John attended Medical School. In 1970, Carolyn and John moved to Bloomfield, Iowa, where Carolyn would raise their five children. She also worked as an office manager in her husbands' practice, J. Finneran M.D., PC, of Bloomfield, Iowa.

Loved by everyone from the beginning, Carolyn kept busy with scouts, dance, and several other sporting events while keeping the boys fed. She enjoyed traveling at home and abroad. She was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, where she sang in the youth choir as a child. When she found free time, she volunteered at Davis County Hospital, and enjoyed sailing and working with The Main Street and Arts Council. She was also was a member of TTT Social Group, National Mah Jongg League, Inc., and Rathbun Yachts Club, where she was the first female commodore.

In 2006, Carolyn and John built a home in Punta Gorda, Florida, where they enjoyed warm winters. She was also a member of St. Mary Magdalene Church in Pine Island, Florida. It wasn't until health issues came up that she decided to move back to Iowa to be closer to family. She and her husband moved into an assisted living facility in Iowa, where they lived until she passed away.

Carolyn's love for her family was greater than anything else. Her husband, children, and grandchildren brought her so much joy and always brought out the best in her. She will be remembered as a woman with a heart of gold and a loving soul to everyone she met.
