Obituary of Gordon Philip Wright

Gordon Philip Wright, 89, of Benton Township, PA, died Sunday morning, November 15, 2020 at Allied Services Skilled Nursing Center, Scranton, PA. He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Kathleen Ruth Wright and was preceded in death by his first wife, Marsha Jean Bopp Wright in 1984.

Born May 28, 1931 in Scranton, PA, he was the son of the late Vernon Harcort Wright and Marion Lightbody Wright.

Gordon was a 1950 graduate of Benton Township High School and a United States Air Force veteran having served during the Korean War. He worked on the family farm as a kid and attended North Vo-Tech School, Scranton, where he learned construction. He worked for 20 years at Houdaille Construction Materials, Inc., Morristown, NJ, before moving back home. He was a member of the Clifford United Methodist Church and enjoyed gardening, reading and history.

He is survived by a daughter: Lori Anne Wright; a step daughter: Suzanne Hoats and husband, Sully; several nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by two brothers: Donald Vernon Wright and David Jonathon Wright.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. Private interment, Hickory Grove Cemetery, Waverly, PA.

Arrangements were entrusted to Shifler-Parise Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Clifford, PA.
