Obituary of William R. Schwalm

William Russel Schwalm, 66, of South Gibson, Pa, died Sunday, May 9, 2021 at home surrounded by his family, after a courageous battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife of 22 years, the former Suzanne Harting.

Born April 21, 1955 in Abington, PA, he was the son of the late William Russel and Ella Mae Strohecker Schwalm.

Russ graduated from Upper Moreland High School. He started his career as a train engineer at 19, and worked for various railroads for 39 years. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. When he moved upstate, he enjoyed farming and woodworking. His sidekick for the last several years is Steve Ehrets, who without him, couldn't have maintained the farm! Russ was one of a kind. It was once said that Russ would give you the shirt off his back, but tell you how to wear it. He touched many people with his wisdom. He will be greatly missed by his friends and cousin, Ken Herb.

He is survived by his siblings: Deb (Chris) Nickels, Wendy (Jim) Morgan and Richard (Joanne) Schwalm; his children: John and Suzie Creps; five grandchildren: Autumn Campbell, Jayden Creps, Anna Creps, David Creps-Phillips and Brooklyn Creps; He took special pleasure in Anna and David as he was helping to raise them in his home.

A celebration of Russ's life will be held on Saturday, July 17, 2021 at the farm in South Gibson.
