Obituary of Claire E. Christie

Claire Christie, 99, formerly of Milltown, NJ, and a resident of the Jewish Home Assisted Living, River Vale, NJ, died Tuesday, November 9, 2021. She was predeceased by her first husband, Walter Elliott and second husband, Donald Christie.

Born September 16, 1922 in Carbondale, PA, she was the daughter of the late Luke and Clara McDonald Haran.

A devout Catholic, she had been an active member of Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Milltown, NJ. She was retired as the dietary manager of the New Brunswick School System.

She is survived by three sons: John Elliott and wife, Kathy of East Brunswick, NJ, Gerard Elliott and wife, Midge of Amherst, VA and Thomas Elliott and wife, Carol of River Vale, NJ; a daughter-in-law: Ping Elliott; ten grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by two sons: Walter and Mark Elliott; two brothers: John and Joseph Haran; and two sisters: Catherine Congdon and Sister M. Annamae Haran, I.H.M.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held Saturday, November 13, 2021 at 9:30 a.m. in St. Rose of Lima Church, 6 North Church Street, Carbondale, PA, celebrated by Rev. Arun Lakra, assistant pastor. Interment, Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Greenfield Township, PA.

Arrangements were under the care of the Edward A. Wade Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., Carbondale, PA.
