Obituary of Jesse W. Manzer

Jesse W. Manzer, 82, of Kingsley, PA, died Saturday, February 19, 2022 at the Barnes-Kasson Hospital, Susquehanna, PA, following an illness. His wife was the late Minerva "Peg" Shipps Manzer who died December 10, 2012. They were married October 15, 1960.

Born November 10, 1939 in South Gibson, PA, he was the son of the late Freeman and Marie Marvin Manzer.

Jesse was the first in his family to graduate from Harford High School. He retired as a foreman from Penn Dot after 25 years and owned and operated a saw mill his whole life, Jesse's Saw Mill. He also drove truck and enjoyed working on local family farms bailing hay. He built numerous sheds and shipped them to many states over the years at his saw mill and enjoyed raising all types of animals.

He was a member of the Elk Mountain VFW Post 8488, ran the political booth for 30 years at the Harford Fair, was a Susquehanna County Committeeman and involved in local voting polls. He was loving and kind friend to all, had a great sense of humor and was always willing to help anyone.

He is survived by a daughter: Jessica Louderback (Zrowka) of Kingsley, PA; four grandchildren: Monica Manzer and fiancé, Karen, Karen Honeyford and husband, Thomas V., Jerry Vail, Jr. and fiancée, Katie and Austin Manzer and wife, Chelsea; five great grandchildren: Michael and Daniel Honeyford, Wyatt and Winstyn Manzer and Dylan; three sisters: Ruth Nichols, Gheri Smith and Lora Chellino; one brother: Melvin Manzer; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two sons: Joseph W. Manzer and Jesse W. Manzer, Jr.; a daughter: Kathy Manzer; and three brothers: Leo Henry, James and Floyd Manzer.

The funeral was held Thursday, February 24, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. from the Shifler-Parise Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 18 Airport Road, Clifford, PA, officiated by Rev. James P. Madas.
