Obituary of Joseph J. Arnese

Joseph J. Arnese, 78, of Dickson City, PA, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 23, 2022 at Hospice of the Sacred Heart, Dunmore, PA, with his family by his side. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jeanne Arnese.

Born October 5, 1943 in Carbondale, PA, he was the son of the late Joseph C. Arnese and the late Rosemary DeFazio Arnese.

Joe was a 1961 graduate of Benjamin Franklin High School and enlisted in the Army in January of 1963, where he served in Korea. He was employed as a manager for Louden Hill Dairy Stores for many years and later worked for Tobyhanna Army Depot for 25 years, before retiring in 2005.

He was a kind, compassionate man with a very strong Catholic faith, who will truly be missed by all that knew him. He was a member of Sacred Heart Parish in Peckville, and a charter member of the West Side Hose Company, Carbondale. He was a longtime member of the Pioneer Rangers Hunting Club, where he spent many years hunting and fishing with many of his friends, especially his best friend since childhood, Jim Artone. Joe was an avid golfer right up until the end and enjoyed many winters in Florida, where he was able to continue his love of golf.

He is survived by a brother: Lawrence G. Arnese of Carbondale, PA; two nieces: Laurie Pompeo of Phoenixville, PA and Kelly Burns of Forest City, PA; a sister: Debbie Wuestling and husband, Jack Kent Wuestling of Olyphant, PA; and his niece, Kendra Wuestling of Olyphant, PA, who has always been the joy of his life.

He was also preceded in death by a sister: Donna Coleman; and his beloved Westie, Holly.

A private funeral Mass was held per the family's request. Interment with military honors followed at Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Greenfield Township, PA.

Arrangements were entrusted to Carmine J. & Louis C. Parise Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., Carbondale, PA.
